LARNE'S short-term radio station Chaine FM this week announced that they have been given the green light to return to air, following the granting of a 24-day license by radio regulator Ofcom.
From 1 to 24 December the station will again broadcast on 106.3 FM across the Larne area. The station first broadcast for two weeks last Christmas and due to popular demand is back for an extended run this time. Gary Andrews comments: "All the favourites from last time will be back with some new ideas too. Last time we really seemed to connect with our listeners and we hope to do so again. More details on our schedule can be found on our website. We are also delighted to announce that there will again be great chances to win on-air with superb competitions.
“In terms of coverage area we are hopeful we will cover most of the town and possibly a slightly larger area than last time. But due to restrictions placed on the transmitter power of short term radio stations those in outlaying areas of the borough may have difficulties receiving us. We are hoping to have a webstreaming service operational too so those outside our FM broadcast area can tune in"
The station reminded local community groups to get in touch if they wish to be featured on-air. Gary highlighted efforts in this regard:
"We again want to feature as many Larne voices as possible and invite anyone involved with community groups, local business, sports clubs, schools, churches etc to try to get in touch to allow us to feature them on-air. Whether you simply want us to mention Christmas events or maybe have you in for a chat everyone is welcome".
It has also revealed that this time the station is being run as a "community radio trial" as the organisers, Chaine Music, begin to investigate the path as to how to provide a full-time Community Radio station for Larne.
You can contact Chaine FM online at www.chainefm.com by email gary@chainemusic. com or by contacting 07740 433590.
Meanwhile, the Chaine FM roadshow will be present at the Larne Christmas Switch-On taking place at Broadway on 28 November.
