IFA to discuss disciplinary action on Larne and Newry brawl

THE IFA Disciplinary Committee is to meet on Wednesday night to discuss possible disciplinary action following the Newry City-Larne Irish Cup brawl.
The committee will examine the role played by individuals in the fighting which caused the fifth round tie at the Newry Showgrounds to be abandoned.
An IFA Commission, set up on Thursday, will decide whether the teams will continue to participate in the cup.
The PSNI are determining whether a criminal investigation is warranted.
A police spokesperson said they were examining all available footage of the day's events.
The Challenge Cup Committee felt the independent IFA Commission was the fairest way to deal with the matter of the teams' continued involvement in the Irish Cup given that many members of that committee represent clubs who are still involved in the competition.
Larne midfielder Anthony Lagan has already been suspended by the club for his involvement in the violent scenes at the Irish Cup game at Newry City.
"Following a club investigation and the referee's report Larne have decided to suspend Anthony Lagan with immediate effect," the club outlined earlier this week.
"It is our hope that Newry City will take similar action against those players named in the referee's report."
Referee Raymond Crangle abandoned the match after serious fighting between players and coaching staff.
Punches and kicks were traded in the Newry dugout and across the pitch after two Larne players and Larne manager Paul Millar had been sent-off.
Newry were leading 2-1 before Crangle and his assistants walked off the pitch after 82 minutes.
