Wednesday, 6 January 2010

STUDENTS from St Comgall's College, Larne contributed to the annual 'Catholics Caring Appeal.
College Principal Miss Cathy Gormley explained that in the weeks leading up to Christmas students were actively involved in fund-raising.
“There was great excitement in the college in seeing the gifts go on display to identify which form group had bagged the best bargains."
Organisers of the charity said that the students' response was typical of their generosity and kindness to others.
Speaking on behalf of the charity, Mary Joyce said that the students' gifts were particularly welcomed this year as people everywhere were feeling the effects of the credit crunch:
“As fast as gifts and food parcels came in we got them out to families in real need this Christmas."
To end the Schools Christmas celebrations, St Comgall's joined with Larne High School for their annual Carol Service, which was a tradition established by both schools twenty years ago.
